Production History:

IN TRANSIT sold out its extended run in the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival and then it went on to win the FringeNYC Overall Excellence Award for Outstanding Playwriting.

Produced by Lucy Ballard and directed by Padraic Lillis, the play starred Katie Atcheson, Brett Douglas, Craig Bridger, Steven Hauck, Tina Johnson, Brian Luna, Steven   McElroy, Debargo Sanyal, Monica Russell, Irene Walsh and, as a replacement for Debargo Sanyal in the extension, Neil Shah.

Individual playlets:

The individual playlets have been produced by Axial Theatre Company (THE DOWNTOWN FOUR, RENTAL BOATS), Algonquin Productions at the 2006 Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival (THE DOWNTOWN FOUR, THE HAMPTON JITNEY), and the Howling Moon Company at the Lark Theatre space (NYC) and at The Stephen Talkhouse (Amagansett, NY) (THE HAMPTON JITNEY.)

“Matt Hoverman, the writer of IN TRANSIT, Lucy Ballard’s super production in The Fringe, has a great sense of the idiosyncrasies of character and a fine sense of humor...  It’s a joyous, engaging evening of interaction among fascinating people with just a touch of the absurd.

“My favorite pick this year at the Fringe Festival is called IN TRANSIT and it’s a comedy about 13 characters thrown aboard 7 modes of NY public transportation.  The writing was impeccable!”

Next Big Hit Broadway Bullet

“What was the best of the best? ... IN TRANSIT is a clever, witty piece.  Matt Hoverman manages to hit on current urban anxieties, while skewering the people who grapple with them.  It’s funny, fast and often hard-hitting.
