Disney Junior's "Firebuds" to premiere - with Matt as head writer!
FIREBUDS, from “Sofia the First” and “Elena of Avalor” creator Craig Gerber, follows a group of friends who are the children of first responders who work and play with talking vehicles to help their community. It will premiere on Disney Junior on September 21st. It was a delight and honor to lead the FIREBUDS writers room as story editor/head writer for Season 1. We poured our hearts into these stories. I'm really proud of what I feel is groundbreaking work, and I'm excited for the world to get to see them.
The cast includes a wonderful group of young actors - as well as Padma Lakshmi as Chef Pavani, Melissa Rauch as Beth Bayani, Oscar Nuñez as Chef Fernando, José Andrés as Chef Al, Pamela Adlon as Principal Kagan, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic as Latch, Patton Oswalt as Duke the Duckbus, Nat Faxon as Throttle, Ali Stroker as Gliderbella, LaChanze as Jenna, Aimee Carrero as Marina Ramirez, Natalie Morales as Val Vega-Vaughn, Allison Case as Viv Vega-Vaughn, Rich Sommer as Mr. Wexell, Atticus Shaffer as Wayne Riley, Tatiana Lee as Ayanna and Lauren “Lolo” Spencer as Jazzy. I was especially pleased to help create a part for my college buddy Lisa Loeb (as Laura), who knocked it out of the park!
